Modern Wedding Planner - Features

Once you login using the email address and password you supplied while registering, you can now update the details of your wedding.  Some items will have default values, but you can change, add to or delete any of that information at it pertains to your wedding, as well as adding your own custom information.  There are some initial settings which need to be set once and will cascade through the rest of the site.  However, you are free to update these settings at any time by going to the Settings section of Modern Wedding Planner

Wedding Details - Here is where you can update the bride or groom's name should you need to, along with the wedding date.  All of this information will be filled in from your registration form but can be updated or changed at any time.

Guest Categories - Guest categories are a way to break up the guest list into manageable people.  These days with larger and extended families, sometimes you need to know who wanted to invite Aunt Bertha so you know who to ask to call her when her RSVP hasn't arrived!  This is the page to do that.  There are a set of default categories, but again you can add to, change, or delete any of them, along with adding new categories of your own. 

Reception Entrees- To accurately calculate the cost of the reception meal, you'll need to supply the entrees and their cost.  Two default entrees are included, but those can be changed or deleted to suit your needs.  If you're having a buffet, hors d'oeuvre reception or including bar service, those items can all be added as well with the associated costs to aid in the total calculation.

Reception Fees - Here you need to enter the sales tax for your area along with the service fee that the reception venue will apply to your total bill.  You can update these percentages at any time and they will be used in the dynamic calculation of the total costs for the Wedding Summary page.

Once all of the settings are completed, it's time to start entering the rest of the information specific to your wedding.  You'll find these pages in the My Wedding section of Modern Wedding Planner .

~ My Wedding ~

Wedding Summary - This has an easy to read visual representation of all the anticipated costs of your total wedding based on the information you've supplied.  Included on this page are Expenses, Estimated Costs, Total Costs, Guest Count, RSVP Count, Reception Dinner Cost based on number of guests attending, and total Reception Dinner Cost including meal and service fees.  This page can be printed for reference at any time and is automatically updated whenever you make a change to any aspect of the wedding details which impact the cost.

Wedding To Do List - On this page you'll add any tasks you want to keep track of.  You can sort by completed, not completed, or view the whole list. 

Wedding Guests - Here is where you keep track of what truly makes your wedding day so special.  The friends and family you want to witness the love you and your fiancĂ© share.  On the wedding guest page you'll add guests and update their address information.  This is also the place where you make an estimate on how many people will attend.  This estimation helps in the cost calculations on the Wedding Summary page.  You can also indicate whether their invitation has been addressed, if their RSVP has been received, and which entree they have chosen.

Wedding Expenses - Keeping track of the expenses for a wedding is sometimes a daunting task.  This page was designed to make that task simple and straightforward.  There is a set of default expenses items already populated in this list, and you have the option of adding to, changing, or completely deleting these defaults as they suit your special day.  You can also add as many other expenses as you need, and these costs will also be used in calculating the total costs on the Wedding Summary page.

Wedding RSVP's - To make sure you know who's coming, this is where all of that information is kept.  This page will show a list of all those invited, based on the information you entered on the Wedding Guests page.  By clicking on each person's name, you update if they've responded yes or no and which entree they've selected.  This list can also be sorted by any of the categories, or will show all guests.  This may prove useful once the final RSVP date has passed, you can sort by a category and quickly generate a list of who hasn't RSVP'd and may need a call to find out if they're able to attend.  In addition, a guest's address information can be updated right on this page as well so you don't have to go to two places to update the same guest.  Just one more feature to keep your wedding planning as simple as possible!

Wedding Gifts - Ah the fun part - all the gifts to open!  Once you've opened all your gifts, it can be a daunting task to keep track of who gave what and if a thank you note was sent.  That's where Modern Wedding Planner comes in to make sure you have everything under control.  Here you'll enter the gift description, cash amount given if applicable, and any comments.  You also choose who the gift is from based on your guest list and check the box to indicate if you've sent out a thank you note.  You can also keep track of group gifts from multiple people, also based on your guest list.

Shower Gifts- This page has the same functionality as the Wedding Gifts page, except this one is designated for showers.  Again you can keep track of who the gift is from and whether or not you've sent a thank you note.
